RCP and Premium domain names for .global

Introduction

The RPM requirements set by ICANN state that labels withheld from registration must be included in a 90 day Claim Service.

.GLOBAL’s objective is to release domain names previously categorized as Premium names in addition to introduce the EPP Enhanced feature (aka EPP Premium Fee Extension Names). There are two categories of domain names that will be released:

  • Domain names that were previously categorized as Premium Names that are being released at standard registration prices.
  • Domain names that will be available as Premium Names at premium prices.

.GLOBAL will be using the Restricted Claims Period (RCP) feature, in order to provide the Claim Service for both categories of released labels.

Regular registrations will not be affected by the RCP. Registrars are not required to participate in the RCP process or EPP Premium Fee Extension Names.

During the 90 days of RCP, Registrars must include the EPP extension called ‘Restricted claims period’ to create labels for both standard priced registrations and Premium Names using the Fee extension in RCP. This includes for labels that do and do not exist as a claim in TMCH. Claims notice information must be provided for labels in the TMCH. The RCP operates in a “first come/first served” basis.

The Restricted Claims Period (RCP) will be applicable from 1 May 2017 15:00 UTC until 30 July 2017 at approximately 20:00 UTC.

The following are examples of the xml for EPP Premium Fee Extension names without RCP.

Premium Price check

A standard domain check performed on a premium domain will return premium pricing information.

Registrars can also check specific premium pricing via the WAT or EPP.

Please note that it is only the initial fee for a EPP Enhanced label that differs from regular .global registrations. Transfer and renewal fees are set as regular .global transactions. Similar to regular .global labels, the EPP Enhanced labels are by default set to auto-renewal.
